Self‐powered transparent photodetector for subretinal visual functions of wide‐field‐of‐view and broadband perception

Natural photoreceptors enable color vision in humans, wherein the eyes detect colors and their corresponding intensities via cone rod photoreceptors, respectively. Herein, we developed an artificial broadband photoreceptor with light-color intensity detection similar to that of natural photoreceptors. The operates self-powered mode is capable perception (365–940 nm). designed metal-oxide heterojunction (n-ZnO/p-NiO) a thin tin sulfide layer embedded between perceiving various colors. It exhibits good transparency visible range displays excellent integration flexible substrates, highlighting its potential for use electronics. fabricated structure has exceptional response time (≈1 ms) wide-field-of-view (150°) compared human eye's sensing (50–100 ms 108°). transparent mimics cones rods wavelength-dependent signals explicitly differentiate detected signals, This further illustrated by employing real generating unique each color. demonstration provides proof concept self-biased bioelectronics emulating high-performing visual functions eyes.
